DAY 5: HAVE A LITTLE FAITH
ASANA: BOAT POSE/NAVASANA
BIBLE VERSE: Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him up saying “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!” Jesus replied “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. (Matthew 8:23-26 NIV)
DEVOTION: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrew 11:1 KJV). In my younger years, I didn’t completely understand what the word faith truly meant. I grew up hearing my elders speak of having the faith of a mustard seed. It was not until I began to seek a deeper relationship with God that I began to understand what having faith looked like. I chose a career as a registered nurse. After obtaining this degree, faithfully prayed for God to light my path to be a nurse anesthetist because it was my ultimate career goal. I prayed and had faith that God would grant me acceptance into a competitive program. I was accepted into my first choice school and I knew it was God. After 32 months of intense training, I completed the program in 2011. When I look back at everything I went through, I knew it was only by God’s grace that I finished the program at the top of my class. I believed in his promise to me and God never failed me. Now, I can say I know and understand what having faith means. With every event in my life (marriage, motherhood) my faith has grown and having faith in God’s plan for my life provides me with the ultimate security and stability.
JOURNAL INSPIRATION: What does having faith mean to you? Do you have faith that God has a purpose for your life?
MEDITATION: I have faith in God’s plan for my life.
