ASANA: TREE POSE/VRIKASANA
BIBLE VERSE: The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 2:9 NIV)
DEVOTION: The world has many temptations. Each day there is something new and shiny that is pleasing to the eye. New and exciting things and experiences increase a neurotransmitter in the brain called dopamine. Dopamine is known as the “pleasure neurotransmitter.” When a car enthusiast sees a new fast car, dopamine is released. In this time, being mindful of the choices we make is crucial. The food we allow to enter our minds, bodies and souls have a profound affect on who we become and what we believe. Fruit of the world gives us an immediate high that is short lived. In contrast, fruit of God is satisfying, everlasting and abundant. We all have sin and fallen short of the glory of God but His grace is sufficient. Where would we be without it? He never gives up on us and always allows us another chance at redemption. As I go through life, I am constantly reminded that all choices have either a consequence or a reward. It is solely in our hands to choose right over right now.
JOURNAL INSPIRATION: From what source do you get your food? Is your food nourishing to your spirit?
MEDITATION: I nourish my spirit with God’s everlasting fruit.
